LKA juniors tournament – 17 April

Teams from Bec, Bromley, Hayes, Nomads and Trojans were in action at the LKA juniors tournament on Sunday 17th April. Under 9s and under 11s were in action.

EKA consultation on membership structure

The England Korfball Association have produced a consultation paper on their membership structure. In particular, this discusses the option of moving to a system where individuals are members of the EKA, not clubs or areas. This would affect how membership fees are calculated. They have requested responses by 2nd May.

Under 19 inter-area tournament – Sunday 24 April

The under 19 inter-area tournament will be held on Sunday 24 April at New Line Learning School, Broughton Lane, Maidstone, ME15 9QL.

Level 1 coaching course – Saturday 26 March

England Korfball are running a Level 1 coaching course on 26 March 2016 between 11am and 5pm. This will be held at Monks Hill Sport Centre, Farnborough Avenue, Croydon, CR2 8HD.

The cost is £70 for members of EKA-affiliated clubs or £80 for non-members. You can enter here.

The LKA will subsidise £30 towards the entry cost for any member of an LKA club or anyone connected to the juniors programme of an LKA club. If you wish to take up this subsidy, please pay the full cost of the entry fee using the link above and then e-mail Mark Paxton, the LKA treasurer, at requesting the subsidy. The £30 subsidy will be paid once the course has been run.

Refereeing rules exam – 2 March

The second part of Bec’s refereeing theory course will be on Wednesday 2nd March.

People attending will have the opportunity to take the refereeing exam which is part of the requirements to become a qualified referee. This session will last between 7pm and 8pm.

The venue is Whitgift School, Haling Park, London, South Croydon CR2 6YT.

London and Harrow teams in action in the junior inter-area event

Both London and Harrow were represented at the junior inter-area event held at Harrow Leisure Centre on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th January.

On the Saturday, the under 13s and under 17s were in action. The London team finished 5th in the under 13 competition with the Harrow sides finishing 7th and 10th. In the under 17 competition, the London side finished 4th.

On the Sunday, it was the turn of the under 11s and the under 15s. The London under 11s were seconds away from winning the tournament until a very late goal by Norfolk in the final game meant that the London side had to settle for third place. The Harrow under 11 team finished ninth.

In the under 15s, the London side were fourth while the Harrow team finished seventh.

The LKA would like to thank all the players, coaches, referees and organisers!

LKA juniors tournament – Sunday 24 January

The next LKA juniors tournament will be at Oasis Academy, Coulsdon on Sunday 24 January between 2-4pm.

National junior inter-area tournament

The national junior inter-area tournament will be at Harrow Leisure Centre on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th January. The under 13 and under 17 tournaments will take place on the 23rd with the under 11 and under 15 tournaments on the 24th.

The under 19 tournament will be held on 17 April.

LKA juniors event – Sunday 13 December

Teams from Bec, Bromley, Croydon, Nomads and Trojans were in action at the LKA junior tournament at Royal Russell School on Sunday 13 December. Matches were played at under 11 and under 13 level.

Teaching Children Korfball course – Wednesday 17 February

England Korfball are running a Teaching Children Korfball course on Wednesday 17 February between 12.30pm and 3.30pm. This will be at:

This is an introductory course for people who are aspiring or current primary or secondary school teachers who have little or no experience of korfball. This 3 hour course will provide you with a basic knowledge of how to play and teach the sport.
